Junior Certificate School Programme (JCSP)

Killinarden Community School is one of a large network of schools that offers its students J.C.S.P. The Programme provides the school with a framework to ensure that students enjoy positive experiences of the Junior Cycle through a creative, achievable, broad-based curriculum and go on to achieve success in the Junior Certificate examination. It is an addition to the Junior Certificate, not a replacement, aimed at improving student attendance and retention.

The programme develops consistent approaches to:

  • Self-esteem building
  • Student involvement and feedback
  • Student affirmation
  • Discipline
  • Literacy and Numeracy
  • Personal and social development

On entering the school, students are profiled as they complete both subject specific and cross-curricular statements. In First Year students partake in an intensive literacy and numeracy initiative in the school’s impressive J.C.S.P library.

In addition to the Junior Certificate, students who complete the programme receive a Student Profile which includes:

  • Certificate of participation
  • Student Profile
  • Description of programme
  • School reference

J.C.S.P offers its students an opportunity to become involved in various cross-curricular initiatives:

  • Artist in Residence
  • Author in Residence
  • Subject Field Trips to name but a few
