As an English Department we strive to nurture our students’ intellectual and imaginative growth by developing his/her grasp of the arts and language.
Killinarden Community School is dedicated to a cross-curricular promotion of literacy within the school. Our state-of-the-art library contains intensive courses to enhance literacy for all levels, as well as a wide range of reading material for every student to avail of. Our faculty see the importance of literacy to a child’s life and also the rich culture which exists within our syllabus.
We aim to develop an awareness of the value of literature for enhancing their sense of cultural identity, while tapping into our students own interests and hobbies.
Material is carefully chosen for our students to make sure there is an appreciation for the arts in the school. Our curriculum contain contemporary poetry and drama as well as a wide variety of literature including classical works.
