The West Leinster Schools Athletics meet was held in Santry on a sunny Thursday in May. The school brought over forty students. Students proudly represented the school in a wide range of events from long jump, Shot put, 100m – 1500m and relay on the track.

There a number of stand out performances on the day. Amy Farrell came 2nd in the second year girls 1500m. In her first appearance at Santry, Jordanne Jones came 2nd in the third year girls 800m. Rhys Murphy came 3rd in the third year boys 800m. The ever present Nicole Fulham came 3rd in the Senior girls 1500m and Anna Antonio put in a great race and came in 3rd in the Senior girls 800m. A special mention must be given to Izuchukwu Chiemeka who qualified for the big event of the day, the Senior boys 100m final but was narrowly beaten in a tense race that had two false starts. Dean Longhi also lived up to his second name and put in a tremendous display and jumped 5+ metres in the Senior boys long jump having never completed in the event before. well done to all involved on the day and we will look forward to next year.
