Baldonnel Visit

Events, News November 18, 2016

As part of this year’s leaving cert Engineering project higher level students were asked to design and build a rescue helicopter. To assist students with this task Mr Ruth organised a visit to Baldonnel army airport. Here the students were given detail briefings about the history, operation and maintenance  of the AW139 helicopter and EC130 helicopter. As well as the brief the students got the chance to get up close and personal with these helicopters. They were shown the winch/rescue capabilities of the helicopters along with a number of novel features that would have gone unnoticed with the assistance of the Irish Air Corps. Many thanks to all in the Air Corps who made the visit possible.
