Baldonnel Visit

Events, News November 18, 2016

As part of this year’s leaving cert Engineering project higher level students were asked to design and build a rescue helicopter. To assist students with this task Mr Ruth organised a visit to Baldonnel army airport. Here the students were given detail briefings about the history, operation and maintenance ¬†of the AW139 helicopter and EC130 helicopter. As well as the brief the students got the chance to get up close and personal with these helicopters. They were shown the winch/rescue capabilities of the helicopters along with a number of novel features that would have gone unnoticed with the assistance of the Irish Air Corps. Many thanks to all in the Air Corps who made the visit possible.
